How Will You Run YOUR Race?

Life is a race.

Thank God that for the believer, the finish line is glory – or when we meet our Savior in heaven.

Thank God that while we run this race here on earth, God’s watching over us, leading us, guiding and directing us.

Even during those moments He may be shaking His head at us when we don’t do His will or fully trust Him, warning us when we place ourselves in risky or compromising situations, or when He’s sending His angels out on in droves for us when we ignore His leading at times, He’s still loving us, He’s still rooting for us, He’s still believing in us.

The Word of God says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”  Hebrews 12:1

The Amplified Bible version of this Scripture reads this way, THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,

It’s time for us to lay aside and get rid of the sins that entangle us and keep us wrapped up in the devil’s territory; let’s shake off those weights and follow hard after God like a deer panting for water. (Psalm 42:1)

We can run our race knowing that God and great men and women of faith who have gone before us are cheering us on and claiming the victory for us every step of the way.  (Hebrews 11)

Life’s race is not a sprint – it’s a journey.

Instead of focusing on what we don’t have or complaining about where we are in life now versus where we thought we would be, let’s decide, today, to enjoy the journey and run this race with patience.

Nothing worth having comes overnight… sure you may not have some things you may be believing God for yet, sure you may be believing God for a mate along with other goals, but remember that the word patience in Hebrews 12:1 means steadfastness, constancy, endurance…it means the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings, it means a patient, steadfast waiting for – a patient enduring, sustaining, perserverance.

So instead of looking around at how God’s blessing ‘her’ or how God’s doing that for ‘him’, or ‘them’, stay focused on YOUR race and continue to look ahead with Jesus as the author and finisher of your faith.  (Hebrews 12:2)

Run your race with patience and joy knowing that at the end of your finish line, and even while on the journey - you win.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.   2 Corinthians 2:14

Free Times 3 – Thank God I’m Free!

As we embark upon the weekend preceding the 4th
of July, I’m reminded of the fact that this holiday is
a celebration of freedom.  It denotes the time when
the colonists decided to break free from Great Britain’s
rule, regulations and taxes and declare
America an independent country free to govern and
maintain itself.

Within the Declaration of Independence, it states:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men
are created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable rights, that
among these are life, liberty and the
pursuit of
happiness.


As a Christian, I am thankful for the freedom I have in Christ Jesus.

Jesus came so that I might have life, and that more abundantly.
Because I have been made free in Him no longer and I held in
bondage to the enemy’s tricks and tactics.  I’m free to be all
God predestined me to be, even before the foundation of the world.

When the enemy thought he had my hand, God had a plan.

The liberty I have in Jesus, because of His shed blood, lets
me know that I have been made free from sickness, free from
disease (or “dis-ease”), free from fear, and free from anything that
disturbs my peace; thank God I’m drama free!

While it is true I have freedom as a Christian and as an American
citizen, I’m also thankful for my current freedom as a single believer.

As a single Christian, I am free to come and go as  I please
while answering to no one but God.  I can travel the world and
live my dreams with no one to discourage me or hold me back.
I can enjoy time with family, friends and those who truly matter
in my life, and I can ration my time any way I choose and be as
productive as I can possibly be without any hindrances,
distractions, or disturbances.

While I look forward to that great day when I shall celebrate
oneness with my spouse, I embrace the fact that I am already
whole and complete now, as a single believer, and I live life to
the fullest in the present while pursuing happiness in Christ
and all the freedoms which come right along with it.

So this Independence Day, I’d like to encourage you to celebrate
the three ways in which you’ve been made free:  Free as an
American citizen, free as a Christian, and free as a single
believer.

Hallelujah!  Thank God you’re free!

We all could relate to her excitement and elation as she sang those words and showed off her ring to all who had an ear to hear and eyes to see.

As singles, we should be excited like Sug, because we’re married now, too, just not in the natural yet.

The New Living Translation of Colossians 2:10 states, So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

Once you got saved a spiritual marriage took place in your heart as you became united in holy matrimony with the Lord.
When you said, “I do,” to Him, you said, “Yes, to Your will,” and, “Yes, to Your way.”  You promised to trust, honor, obey and serve Him with your whole heart because He first loved you (1 John 4:19)

You are now married to a man who loves you unconditionally, in spite of all your flaws and mistakes, He still cherishes and honors you and treats you like the queen you already are.

More than brag about the ring, you can brag about the Man, your High Priest “Sugar Daddy” who takes care of you now more than any man in the natural ever will.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Psalm 37:25

For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.  Isaiah 54:5
